Another 1.2 Teaser

Monday, January 21st, 2008

So I’m sure some of you are thinking I have moved to some remote desert island and forgotten all about a little app known as BitClamp but nothing could be further from the truth.
The deal I hinted at in my previous post is in place and I will announce it soon but more importantly for you guys: 1.2 is being pushed back, not too far into the future but another couple of weeks.
Basically we are implementing another set of features that need to be tested etc. BitClamp is looking more like 1.5, in fact I am considering making it a 1.3 release to reflect that.
Just a couple of little teasers, I’m not going to reveal much as everything is subject to change but this is better than nothing:

Of course that will be very secure, and mainly so you don’t forget these:

The future….

Monday, January 7th, 2008

Ok this is going to be an interesting post for me…
It has been a blast starting this company. It has to be said I have had a lot of fun and created an app that I know people use and love, but it has become a bit of a strain running a company when I am really just a developer.
I am pushing 1.2 back, why?! Well I have recently been talking to various software companies and publishers and one has got to the contracts stage. I am super excited about this but can’t announce anything yet.
It looks like BitClamp will join the ranks of a well known software publisher and so will I. 1.2 and the windows version will certainly be coming to you and will be free for existing customers, but it will have to wait for the switchover. I don’t think this will take too long but I can’t give you a definite date.
BitClamp may not be brought to you by Crimson Sky Software in the future but rest assured I will still be at the helm of this application and the future is VERY bright for BitClamp.

1.1

Friday, November 23rd, 2007

Ok I realise its been a while since an update so here goes:
I’ve been working hard with our excellent beta team on the release of 1.1, this is going to be a biggie in terms of making BitClamp what users really want it to be as we are releasing some highly desired features.
First off: New algorithms.
BitClamp 1.1 is going to offer 3 totally re-worked algorithms that are (of course) backwards compatible. These three are now: 256 Bit Serpent, 256 Bit AES and a whopping 448 Bit Blowfish implementation.
Lots of you have been asking for more secure algorithms so here they are, and they operate at the same blazing speed that your used to.
We have also added an optional password confirmation field when adding a key to your encryption.
This is a big release and I will be pushing a bit more marketing out there, but if you were waiting to purchase this may be the release to do so. (Especially as we may well be releasing the Windows version very soon ;-) ).

Growl in 1.0.3

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

Hey guys,
I just got back home to see a couple of bug reports (and an angry email saying that I have been ignoring a couple of bug reports [that dont exist]).
Basically, Growl is not playing nice with the current version. I cant deal with it now as I need to sleep but I will have a temporary fix in place tomorrow and a permanent fix by friday.
Thanks for your patience.

Free Decryptor

Monday, November 5th, 2007

It is now up and ready to be downloaded.
Thanks for your patience :-)

A Belated Fanfare

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

We are up! BitClamp is now available for all to download here. So why the lack of fanfare? I’m afraid its painfully simple. My MacBook hard drive died today (RIP) leaving me on a USB line to my backup…. which is running Tiger.
Why does that matter? As I am yet to package up the free decryptor something I need Leopard to do (512×512 icons) and so I dont really want to announce everything as ready if it isn’t.
Its probably going to go up without a leopard icon. But for now I need some sleep. Shall work more in the morning I promise :-)

Worlds first look at BitClamp

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

So here it is, your first chance to see BitClamp.
I have given the honour to Chris Marshall, who has been truly indispensable throughout the production of BitClamp, even though he has no official title at Crimson Sky.
The preview is on his blog.
Enjoy :-)
